BMI Preserves One-of-a-Kind Stained Glass Window at Knox Church
After a two-year restoration, the Ascension Window graces Ontario Street, Stratford once more, preserved for present and future generations!
In August 2022, BMI began the meticulous restoration of the church’s largest window.
Its seven panels underwent a careful two-year restoration with Roof Tile Management, during which degenerated plexiglass and metalwork were replaced and repaired and a new UV layer was added.
Originally donated by the Ladies’ Aid Society in 1915, the 21-by-36-foot leaded glass window was the largest of its kind in Ontario. Its restoration honours and encapsulates the charitable spirit of Knox's congregation.
Visit us at 142 Ontario St. in Stratford to see the completed work, and stop by the parkette on Waterloo Street next week to learn more about Knox's heritage.
At BMI, projects like this are central to our adaptive reuse portfolio. Cultural heritage like this is irreplaceable—and deserves preservation.
It’s fabulous to see and it’s so heartwarming to see that BMI has cared to preserve that piece of history. The congregation has been waiting almost impatiently for this day…
