Community Landmark

Copperlight is a mixed-use revitalization project bringing new life to a community landmark. The space is currently operating as an arts and event venue while it awaits its next chapter.

Since its opening in 1871, Knox Presbyterian Church has played a vital role in Stratford’s history.

In 2022, the church was sold to BMI, which has become the steward of this heritage building.

Thanks to a 10-year lease agreement with BMI, the congregation will continue to meet at the church for worship.

Restoring History

Many of the decorative stained glass windows throughout the church were donated by parishioners and reflect different periods in the church’s history.

The largest of them, a seven-panel window, underwent a two-year restoration by BMI, during which deteriorated plexiglass and metalwork were replaced and repaired.

Originally donated by the Ladies Aid Society in 1915, this 21-by-36-foot marvel was, at the time of its unveiling, considered the largest leaded glass window in any church in Ontario.
